Global Programme and Government of Viêt Nam finalise eLangViêt study
GLOBAL PROGRAMME ONLINE NEWS, HA NOI

The Global Programme and the Government of Viêt Nam met on 19 March 2004 to finalise the pre-feasibility study on eLangViêt on promoting sustainable human development through the grassroots with the use of information and communication technologies.

The meeting brought together the six provinces and seven villages involved in the project, along with Viêt Nam's development- and economic-oriented ministries.

In addition, the three pillars of authority in Viêt Nam were represented, with the meeting being witnessed by senior figures from Government, the Party and the National Assembly.

This study will now form the basis for the in-depth feasibility stage, to be undertaken in the second half of 2004 in seven villages in six rural and mountainous provinces, to determine the nuts and bolts of this pilot operation.

Fund-raising is already underway for the feasibility stage.
